🃏 The Future of Competition

Competition has been a fundamental part of human history and progress. From children's games to adult professional pursuits, it fuels growth, innovation, and self-improvement. It instills a sense of accomplishment, resilience, and fosters the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Moreover, competition in a social setting amplifies its benefits, transforming competition into a shared experience that strengthens bonds among participants and creates a sense of community.

In the 16th century during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, she was known for her competitive nature and love of card games, particularly a game known as "Maw." Her courtiers often gathered to play this game, which was not merely about the thrill of the game but also an opportunity to converse, make political alliances, and engage in intellectual discourse. Just as Queen Elizabeth's court found common ground and excitement over a deck of cards, we too aim to create an experience that brings together the thrill of competition and the joy of social interaction.

At RF Labs, we are making positive-sum experiences for zero-sum games.

RF Labs

Showdown - Alpharetta

⌛ A Brief History

We started RF Labs in August 2021 with the goal to track 100% of gameplay from physical cards and chips. We wanted to provide ourselves and friends with a way to view long-term stats from poker tournaments, compare behavior, and play more interesting game variants. As we continued to improve the technology and talked to card rooms, we realized our product solved so much more. Today, RF Poker tables are used across the world to track gameplay, automate live broadcasts, increase security, improve card room operations, and most importantly, provide players with data to make them better while improving the playing experience. We stumbled upon a restaurant in 2023 that wanted to use our tables to bring players in on weekdays to buy food and drinks. As they saw significant growth in customers, we realized that the technology had the potential to be the future of arcades. We set out to build Showdown Social, and are now opening Location 1 in Atlanta, GA.
